2008-2009 PBA Rookie of the Year, Jason Belmonte of Australia, averaged over 250 in round robin match play to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals in the 2010 KPBA Korea Cup.

The two-hander, who made the cut to the top 12 in sixth place averaging 228.25 for 24 games, fired games of 239, 245, 187, 250, 258, 255, 290, 268, 233, 266, 287, and 245 to rocket to the top of the leaderboard. Belmo won 10 of his 12 matches worth 300 bonus to finish with 8801 total and an overall average of 236.14 for 36 games.

Previous leader Jung Tae Hwa, Korea, fell to second place despite a 9-3 won-los record after averaging only 217.41 in match play. Jung totaled 8628 pins to lead compatriot Cho Young Seon by 38 pins. Cho had the second-highest 232.17 average and a 9-3 match play record.

In the opening match of the five-player stepladder finals, 4-time PBA champion Sean Rash and 13-time PBA champion and 2005-06 Player of the Year, Tommy Jones, will square off.

Rash fell from second to fourth place during match play after winning just four of his 12 matches despite averaging 226.08. Jones slipped from third to fifth place after going 5-7 despite the third-highest average of 230.17 .

Defending Korea Cup Champion Tim Mack finished in 12th place with 8049 and an average of 220.25. Another six PBAers were eliminated in the fourth round Bill O'Neill, Mike Fagan (16th), Pete Weber (17th), Ronnie Russell (22nd), Rhino Page (26th) and Parker Bohn III (27th).
 
Belmo just posted on facebook, he won 210-192 against Sean Rash. He picked a cool 30,000,000 korean dollars for the win.

Well done and a good lead up to the upcoming World Series.

Fantastic effort by the best bowler Australia has ever produced.I tell you what, I've seen a few but he would have to be the best I've ever seen. Well done Belmo.
