For those that are following the PBA tour (as I'm sure most of us are), here is the write up on the PBA tour trials that have just finished in the US

A Solid 10
Merrillville, IN - June 5, 2005

After five days and 45 games, 10 bowlers rose to the top and earned exemptions for the 2005-06 Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour season Sunday in the 2005 PBA Tour Trials at Stardust Bowl II.

Chris Loschetter, West Melbourne, Fla., averaged 226.56 over his nine-game set Sunday to lead the group of 10 bowlers, finishing with a 10,086 45-game pinfall. He finished 29 pins ahead of Brian Kretzer, who was 2nd with 10,057. Kretzer, Dayton, Ohio, and D.J. Archer, Carrollton, Texas, who finished 6th, are the only two bowlers who were exempt in 2004-05 to qualify for 2005-06 through the Tour Trials.

The entire field bowled nine games a day for five days on each of the PBA’s five different oil patterns. The 10 bowlers with the highest total pinfall after 45 total games earned an exemption for the 2005-06 PBA Tour season.

“I knew I had a shot coming in. I just took it day by day,” said Loschetter, who finished 2nd in the 2005 PBA Denny’s World Championship. “Every night before I went to bed I thought about what could go wrong, but when I got out (to the lanes) I just calmed down and did what I had to do. I was just keeping my eyes on 10th place.”

Heading into the final game, six bowlers between places 6-12 were within 45 pins of each other. Ritchie Allen, Columbia, S.C., who missed an exemption by two spots in the 2004 PBA Tour Trials, fired a 259 in game nine to move up from 12th to 9th, finishing with 9,757.

Bill O’Neill, Levittown, Pa., who was 10th heading into the final game, struck with his first shot in the 10th and shot 247 to hold onto the final exemption for the 2005-06 season. Andres Gomez shot 246 in game nine to finish 8th with 9,765 while Chris Collins, Fayetteville, N.C., shot 232 in the final game to finish 7th with 9,775.

Also qualifying for the 2005-06 season were Tom Daugherty, Tampa, Fla., who finished 3rd with 10,018; Rudy Kasimakis, Tupelo, Miss., who finished 4th with 9,978; and Dino Castillo, Carrollton, Texas, who finished 5th with 9,967.

It's a shame that Randy Pedersen & Bob Learn Jr. didn't make the cut, it would have been nice to see them get an exemption this year.

Look at the names that missed out.... wow

Few women in there too... Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Kelly Kulick, Liz Johnson.. suppose since there's no PWBA tour anymore...

scary huh? so many great bowlers in that field, not to mention the other almost 50 that were cut in the process...
