depends too if you need to slide.... I am one that 'plants' the front foot and doesn't slide at all. The heel being placed on ground prevents slide when releasing the ball

If you want some good advice depending on where you are in Brisbane take some time out and see Laurie Hill and Caboolture Bowl (www.griplocaus.com). He coaches as well as ball driller and I think his rate for coaching is $7.50 for 1/2 hr. Runs the pro shop as well.

Sometimes buying online isn't the best way to go if something goes wrong. The balls you buy on line then have to paid to get drilled where-as get one from your local pro shop usually includes drilling cost and easier from pro-shop if any problems occur with the ball

I have noticed that some grips are softer than others. I chase around for the slightly harder ones but then again I am a 'once a week bowler' but while bowling fingertip I prefer the consistency of having a thumb slug rather than the varied texture inside the ball for thumb to grip on
